Job Description

IL Corn will offer one Ag Advocacy Internship in the summer of 2026 to assist the IL Corn Communications and Advocacy programs in the association’s outreach goals.  

Intern Responsibilities:  

The IL Corn Intern will work in the following areas: 

  • Public Relations, Marketing and Communications support. 
  • Writing, design and video production. 
  • Presentations about corn and corn farmers to non-farmers and teachers. 
  • Attend IL Corn events and help support.
  • Member data management and analysis. 
  • Policy and advocacy support. 
  • General office administrative tasks (phones, technology support, etc). 

Work Schedule:  

The Intern will work in the Bloomington IL Corn office, Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 4:30 pm. The internship commences on or around June 1. The Intern can expect a reasonable amount of flexibility for pre-approved changes to this schedule. 

Professional Development:  

•    The intern will have the opportunity to interact with association professionals, educators, and a wide cross-section of agricultural leaders. 

•     The Intern will attend an introductory experience in Washington, DC. 

Compensation/Travel Allowance:  

•    This internship is a paid opportunity with hourly compensation. 

•    The Intern will be allowed reimbursement of expenses (mileage, hotel, meals, etc.) related to all pre-approved IL Corn activities. 

•    The Intern is encouraged to investigate and seek credit hours for the internship through his or her school and necessary requirements for that credit will be facilitated by IL Corn staff. 

Required Qualifications  

The Intern: 

•    Must be an Illinois resident and full-time college student, enrolled for the fall 2026 semester. 

•    Must exhibit strong communication and leadership skills. 

•    Must have a driver’s license, reliable transportation and be willing to travel as needed. 

•    Must demonstrate an interest in understanding agriculture and supporting farmers. 

Preferred Qualifications  

•     A good working knowledge of Illinois agriculture. 

•     A good working knowledge of the political process. 

•     Preference will be given to students entering their junior year or higher. 

•     Evidence of skillset related to communications, photography, design, or video production (Canva experience). 

•     Demonstrated interest or previous experience in policy or advocacy.
