• They also need to be OK with Platform Developer type work as well - Terraform and shadow staff engineers.
• This role is going to be a "swiss army knife" meaning they will be wearing multiple hats and need to be OK working on multiple projects internally.

Senior Developer Productivity Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Developer Productivity Engineer to join our engineering team and help accelerate the velocity, reliability, and happiness of our developers. This role sits at the intersection of backend service development and cloud infrastructure engineering, with a focus on building tools, platforms, and processes that improve the developer experience across the organization.

You'll work closely with backend engineers, DevOps, and SREs to streamline CI/CD pipelines, enhance local development environments, and evolve our internal platforms using technologies like Node.js, Java, Go, and Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain internal tools and services that improve developer workflows and productivity.
• Develop and support CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and deployment automation.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to define and implement scalable cloud environments using Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Create abstractions and frameworks that simplify backend service development.
• Monitor and optimize build times, test reliability, and deployment speed.
• Advocate for best practices in software development, testing, and observability.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify friction points and proactively address them.
• Contribute to documentation, onboarding materials, and internal developer education.

Qualifications

Required:

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development using JavaScript (Node.js), Java (Spring Boot), or Go.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
• 3+ years working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including provisioning and managing cloud resources.
• 3+ years of experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
• 2+ years of experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker, AWS ECS, and Kubernetes.
• Proven track record of improving developer workflows, build systems, or internal tooling.

Preferred:

• 2+ years of experience building or contributing to internal platforms or developer portals.
• Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.
• Familiarity with monorepo strategies and build tooling (e.g., Gradle, Maven, etc.).
• Contributions to open-source developer tooling or infrastructure projects.
